Most Common Spa Development Mistakes

Walking the Site

No matter how much work goes into the planning, concepting and development of a new spa, renovation, or conversion, there are common flaws that can easily slip through the cracks – even with proper protocols, consultations, documentation, site walks and approvals.

These flaws happen because they are very specific to spas and wellness facilities – odd MEP requirements for anyone not used to building a spa, if you will! There are sinks in the floors (pedicure bowls), electrical outlets in the center of each treatment room floor (for electric massage tables which have controls for movement and heating solutions), and there is a need for multiple volume and channel controls within a small footprint of the overall facility – inside each treatment room.

Even if you see the construction documents correctly created, it’s important to mention them to the development team on site. And of course, to walk the site to make sure these areas are prepped for what may seem odd, but is imperative to the relaxation efforts that spas deliver!
